Pickle Canning 2011

Confession: I consume pickles in mass quantities. For real.
I seriously buy a new jar of pickles every time I go to the grocery store. I love pickles. Dill pickles. I do not eat Bread and Butter Pickles or Sweet Gerkins or whatever they are called, I eat real pickles!
So to help with my pickle problem (hehe say that ten times fast) I decided to can my own pickles.

Now my mom and great-grandma have canned things my entire life. I remember then canning all kinds of goodies when I was younger. After my great-grandparents passed on, mom carried on the tradition at home...which means we had to help. Dad has had a huge garden every year since we moved into the house in 1995, which always means lots of canning to do at the end of each summer.

Well, Dad provided the cucumbers, I bought the jars and pickling supplies, and mom provided her hot water bath supplies.
Okay so I did the manual labor of canning, but it was kind of a group effort in all. :)

Once I was done, I had 18 beautiful jars of pickles. The pickling part just about peeled the paint off the kitchen walls, but it was so worth it. :)

I did share a few jars with mom and dad for their effort ;)

Here is the page I made about the canning process.

Thanksgiving 2011 and 2012 Layouts

Wow am I behind on scrapbooking!
Seriously, I have never been this far behind before. I just finished the layouts for Thanksgiving 2011 and 2012! Hopefully, after this crazy summer and my sister's wedding I will get back on track again!

Velvet Ice Cream Festival 2012

Last May, the neighbors took us to Utica, Ohio to the Velvet Ice Cream Factory and Ice cream Festival. It was so cool to see the factory and I really loved tasting the ice cream flavors!
Here are the scrapbook pages about the day.
